We were looking for a hotel which would be nearby all main sights and simultaneously the prices would be reasonable. We booked Courtyard by Marriott as it complied with our requirements. It is situated on Voznesenskiy Pereulok which turned out to be a rather quiet street. The main attractions such as Red Square, Armoury Chamber or GUM are reachable within a 10-minute walk. A good location is crucial for efficient sightseeing😉
From the outside, the building seems to be small but when you enter, you realise the other parts are “hidden” inside. There is an impressive structural glass roof in the hall.
Our room was simple but spacious and clean.
The staff spoke both Russian and English, however the knowledge of Russian is beneficial as the staff ´s English is basic.
I enjoyed breakfasts there as you could try some traditional Russian foods such as syrniki (fluffy cottage cheese pancakes). Yum!😍 There was a buffet and you could also order an omelette prepared by a friendly young man. We were lucky to have mini fruit tarts which were delicious😋
To summarise, Courtyard by Marriott is a good choice if you want to spend a few days in Moscow. The convenient location saves your time as you really don’t need to use public transport a lot, however in case you will need to use it, there is an underground station nearby.
